On the day!

On the day, I was responsible for signing people in, which went a little haywire when those dressed as minions told people to come in disregarding the sign-in/ wristbands! Unfortunately we had to turn down a school and also several lone children, however we managed to squeeze in lots of people, as some who booked did not turn up. When it came inhabiting the minions, I was asked to take the door with miss. We then preceded to have complaints that it was too dark along with various other absurd complaints!

The kids enjoyed the activities and the film and I think they enjoyed our surprise dance at the end!
All together I think it went very well as the kids enjoyed it, which is the most important thing.

Inhabiting a Minion

Learning to inhabit a minion was exciting, I found that minions are kind of like mentally deficient children and u found getting into that mind state certainly helped me inhabit a minion. I was not present when we initially found that physicality and mental state, however I quickly picked it up.

I found that the minions were very suseptable, directional beings with, seemingly, no subconscious thought patterns that merely worked off carnal instinct. This carnality was very well reflected in the coin exercise where the minions are obsessing over this one object and will do anything to attain it. The directional and highly conscious behavioural traits were deeply reflected in the movement, with stopping pausing and then following their direction of choice. The lack of subconscious processes was equally reflected in the 'stuck' exercise.

Questions

Questions When looking at the films we were told to look at: Who are the trailers aimed at? Will it generate interest in Selhurst? What additional ideas do you have apart from the screening? The trailer for DM2 is aimed mainly at young, young children. I think it will develop interest in Selhurst, because of the amount of young children in the area.

Initial 5 ideas.

My initial ideas were as follows: . To come dressed as your favourite film character- This idea came from the birthday party in the film, the attendees all came dressed as film characters. I thought it might be exciting to come dressed as characters as I know this is something I would have enjoyed at their age. . To have a knights fight- This again came from the birthday scene in which some of the children dressed as knights have a sword fight. Children always enjoy fights (in a controlled environment with foam swords) and so I thought it would be awesome to have knights costumes and fake swords with some form of tournament. . Design an animal- I looked at all the peculiar creatures in the film, and thought it might be near to have a place where they could draw animals and them design them out of scrap and pipe cleaners to make their own animals and creatures. . Sinco De Mayo- This idea was taken directly from a film scene, I thought at the beginning, we could have stalls, games etc. and then when they come out at the break they can walk out into a Sinco De Mayo festival with food, decorations, music etc. run by El Macho (me)! . Paint fight- I thought about this maybe at the end to have yellow minions run in and give the kids guns with yellow paint in the have a load of purple minions come in and tell them to shoot the minions yellow.

The films

The films. The films we were asked to chose from were: Despicable Me 2 Lego Movie Frozen Monsters University Personally I would have preferred out of all of those to watch Lego Movie, however the vote swung almost exclusively in favour of Despicable Me 2. I enjoyed watching the film and had a few initial ideas of what we could do.

First Impressions

First Impressions I liked the idea of a community cinema experience, I thought it was clever and beneficial to BRIT's relationship to its community. I am very interested in this kind of thing after going to see a secret cinema production of Shawshank Redemption, I love film and immersive theatre, so this kind of experience is amazing for me to participate in. The one thing I was not looking forward to was the prospect of working with children, because I don't particularly enjoy doing theatre or things like that for children, as sometimes it can feel a little humiliating to act for young children.
